We go directly to The Department Of State –Vital Records Division in Washington D.C to submit your born abroad birth certificate request.  We pick up the completed birth certificate and send it back to you using FedEx shipping.               
The Record of Birth Abroad that we can obtain for you can be used  to get a Passport or as proof of citizenship. If you are unsure of which record you need, we recommend getting a DS-1350 because it is less expensive, you can order multiple copies, and doesn't require the return of documents or an affidavit.
Certificate of Report of Birth (DS-1350): If the birth was recorded in the form of a Consular Report  of Birth, a Certification of Report of Birth (DS-1350) can be issued in multiple copies. The DS-1350 contains the same information as that on the new format Consular Report of Birth and is acceptable for all legal purposes. The DS-1350 is not issued overseas and can be obtained only by filling out both order forms and a $125.00 fee payable to AmericanBirth.com, to the address below. (No personal checks, only money orders, or credit cards are accepted) You may request additional copies for $25
Turnaround Time
The Department of state vital record must be retrieved from off site repositories, including the National Archives. Since the time required to retrieve these records varies significantly based upon the type of record and date of occurrence, it is impossible to give a definite turnaround time. In most cases, turnaround is four to eight weeks. However, all requests automatically get expedited service, but there is no way to reduce the retrieval time. The processing time is an approximate processing time based on our experiences.

Consular Report of Birth Abroad (FS-240) - $30.00 - ONE REPLACEMENT ONLY
(Request for a FS-240 must include the original FS-240 or a notarized affidavit attesting to its disposition.)  Fees for Americanbirth.com are additional to the Department of States Fees.
For the following documents, the fee is $30.00 for the first copy and $20.00 for each additional copy:

Additional Requirements
       A written request must be notarized and must include a copy of valid photo identification      of the requester. The written request must include:
(1) full name of child at birth (plus any adoptive names)
(2) date and place of birth
(3) names of parents
(4) serial number, if known, of the FS-240 (on those issued after November 1, 1990)
(5) any available passport information
(6) signature of requester and
(7) notarized affidavit for a replacement FS-240 (if applicable).
Note: For Panama Canal Zone (PCZ) birth certificates just include items (1) through (3).

• A copy of a valid identification of the requester, such as a driver’s license, military ID,passport.
  


• If you possess a Report of Birth/Death or Certificate of Witness to Marriage, please enclose a copy to aid in our file search.
  
  
• If you are requesting an amendment or correction to a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, please include certified copies of all documents appropriate for effecting the change (i.e., foreign birth certificate, marriage certificate, court ordered adoption or name change, birth certificates of adopting or legitimating parents, etc.). The original or replacement FS-240,      or a notarized affidavit concerning its whereabouts also must be included.
